A sapphire and diamond necklace led the recent Christie’s auction in Hong Kong, where it garnered HKD 125.5 million ($16.1 million), within its estimated range.
The piece features 16 antique cushion-shaped Kashmir sapphires weighing 3.43 to 13.37 carats, each framed with variously cut, D- to F-color diamonds of internally flawless to VS1 clarity, totaling 121.81 carats. The necklace took center stage at the November 25 Magnificent Jewels auction, according to Christie’s.
In total, Christie’s brought in HKD 538.1 million ($69.1 million) from the sale, which included pieces from famous design houses such as Harry Winston, Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, and JAR.
