Christie’s has promoted Max Fawcett and Claiborne Poindexter in a reorganization of its jewelry department.

Fawcett, who has been with the auction house for 10 years, will now be global head of jewelry, Christie’s said Monday. He will replace Rahul Kadakia, whom the company promoted last month to president of Asia and chairman for its luxury group. Most recently, Fawcett held the role of head of jewelry for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Christie’s.

Meanwhile, the auction house has appointed Claibourne Poindexter — who was previously senior vice president and senior specialist of jewelry in the US, playing a key role in developing the auction house’s business there — as head of the jewelry department for the Americas. He will oversee all jewelry sales across the region and focus on growth and client engagement.

Fawcett and Poindexter “embody the expertise, passion and global perspective that define Christie’s jewelry department,” said Kadakia. “[Fawcett’s] deep specialist knowledge, exceptional client relationships and leadership across multiple regions make him the natural choice to lead our global team. [Poindexter’s] energy, understanding of our business and strong client connections position him perfectly to drive growth in the Americas. I have every confidence that under their guidance, jewelry at Christie’s will continue to flourish.”

Fawcett and Poindexter will both begin in their new roles on January 1.
