A recent jewelry sale at Heritage Auctions pulled in the largest total in the company’s history, garnering $9.2 million.
A cushion-shaped, 41.54-carat, fancy-dark-brown-greenish-yellow diamond ring led the sale, soaring to $625,000, more than four times its $150,000 high estimate, Heritage said last week. The stone is the second-largest recorded example of a hydrogen-rich “whiskey-colored” diamond, the auction house revealed.
The September 29 Fall Fine Jewelry Signature Auction was also the longest sale the company had ever held, with more than 500 lots selling in just under 12 hours and bidding coming from more than 1,900 participants.
