Sotheby’s will exhibit and auction a single-owner collection worth over $8 million and containing pieces from prestigious jewelry houses.
The event, titled A Legacy of Elegance: Jewels from an Exceptional Collection, comprises more than 60 items, including signature jewels from Suzanne Belperron and JAR, Sotheby’s said Friday. The company will showcase selected highlights worldwide before returning for an exhibition days before the December 8 sale in New York.
A Boucheron necklace with an upper estimate of $2 million will headline the sale. It features approximately 40 carats of cushion-shaped rubies and about 65 carats of old mine-and old European-cut diamonds, accented by single-cut diamonds.
“This collection stands out for its compelling variety of characteristics — rarity, distinguished authorship, impeccable provenance, and above all, iconic design,” said Quig Bruning, head of jewels at Sotheby’s for America and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). “It is a true celebration of connoisseurship, showcasing the finest jewels and artisans from the late 19th century through to the present day. Assembled with both passion and joy, these treasures were clearly deeply cherished and lovingly worn by their owner.”
