Columbia Gem House Launches New Source of Traceable Rubies and Sapphires 

Columbia Gem House has unveiled a new collection of untreated, traceable rubies and sapphires from Winza and the surrounding mining area in central Tanzania. 

The assortment encompasses vivid pinks, saturated purples, fuchsia, padparadscha, and true rubies, the company said Thursday. The rubies and sapphires are untreated, with many displaying two-tone zoning, which includes a mix of blue and red, resulting in bicolor and kaleidoscopic stones.  

The polished-gem supplier’s team has cut each gem, with the initial selection featuring round, pear, baguette and marquise shapes measuring 4.5 millimeters and smaller, it noted. 

“Establishing a dependable supply chain for this material has been an important project for us,” said Columbia Gem House’s sourcing team. “This material meets our standards for traceability and offers exceptional quality. We’re particularly excited about offering clean, richly saturated pink sapphire in a market where untreated material is increasingly rare.”
