Colored Diamonds to Rule Sotheby’s Geneva Auction Block

Two unmounted diamonds at Sotheby's image

A pair of unmounted diamonds will be among the top lots Sotheby’s will offer at an upcoming Geneva auction, where it is set to fetch up to CHF 4 million ($4.8 million). 

The stones are both cushion-shaped, D-flawless diamonds weighing 23.88 and 23.76 carats. They were cut from the same 108.36-carat rough diamond, Sotheby’s said last week. They make up one of the lots that will join the Mediterranean Blue, a modified brilliant-cut, 10.03-carat, fancy-vivid-blue, VS2-clarity diamond that is set to lead the May 13 High Jewelry sale. Though Sotheby’s gave it a price tag of “in the region” of $20 million, experts believe it could fetch as much as $30 million. 

The auction will also feature pieces from famous designers such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Graff, Bulgari, and Cartier.

This necklace features a heart-shaped, 4.05-carat, fancy-blue, internally flawless diamond pendant. It carries a top estimate of CHF 1.3 million ($1.6 million).

A ring bears an oval, 5.83-carat, fancy-light-blue, internally flawless diamond between heart-shaped, D-color, internally flawless diamonds weighing 0.52 and 0.50 carats. It’s expected to bring in up to CHF 1 million ($1.2 million).

An M. Gérard ring with a marquise-shaped, 14.72-carat, D-color, VVS2-clarity diamond flanked by tapered baguette diamonds has a high estimate of CHF 840,000 ($1 million).

This pair of earrings, each with a cut-cornered rectangular step-cut, fancy-intense-yellow diamond — one a 14.15-carat, VS1-clarity and the other a 14.01-carat, VVS2-clarity — with brilliant-cut diamond surmounts, has an upper price of CHF 620,000 ($750,111).

These Van Cleef & Arpels ear clips are designed as a tiered cluster of marquise-shaped diamonds, supporting detachable pear-shaped, D-color diamond pendants weighing 8.31 and 8.12 carats. They’re set to sell for as much as CHF 620,000 ($750,111).

This ring, which features a marquise-shaped, 10.05-carat, D-color, VVS2-clarity diamond, set between triangular diamonds, has an upper estimate of CHF 620,000 ($750,111).

A Van Cleef & Arpels necklace styled as a wreath design and set throughout with marquise-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds, supporting a detachable tassel with pear-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds weighing a total of 16.2 carats, is anticipated to garner up to CHF 620,000 ($750,111). 
Boodles ring at Sotheby's image
This Boodles ring has a pear-shaped, 3.03-carat, fancy-vivid-yellowish-orange, I1-clarity diamond within a border of brilliant-cut diamonds, encased in a rock crystal frame. It carries a high estimate of CHF 600,000 ($725,911).
