All of the top 10 lots exceeded their high estimates at the most recent Sotheby’s jewelry auction, which took place in Milan.
The top lot, a ring featuring a marquise-shaped, 8.92-carat, E-color, VVS2-clarity diamond, sold for EUR 254,000 ($295,127), more than double its high price. It led the October 9 to 23 Fine Jewelry & Watches sale, according to the auction house’s website.
Overall, the sale garnered EUR 6 million ($7 million), with several lots the handiwork of famous jewelry houses such as Cartier, Bulgari and Boucheron.

It beat its EUR 30,000 ($34,857) high estimate and notched up EUR 127,000 ($147,563).This David Webb coral and diamond choker more than quadrupled its upper asking price of EUR 25,000 ($29,048) and went under the hammer for EUR 120,650 ($140,185). It sports three rows of graduated coral beads and a clasp designed as a buckle with brilliant-cut diamonds.A Cartier panther bangle contains a total of 11 to 13 carats of diamonds of F to G color and VVS to VS clarity. It has pear-shaped, slightly bluish-green emeralds for eyes and an onyx nose. It surpassed its high estimate to fetch EUR 120,650 ($140,185).This ring features a marquise shaped, 9.49-carat, K to L, VVS2 diamond. It sold for EUR 114,300 ($132,807), flying past its EUR 70,000 ($81,334) top price.A Bulgari necklace and a pair of ear clips pulled in EUR 114,300 ($132,807), more than nine times their EUR 12,000 ($13,943) upper estimate. They sport flowers composed of carved coral petals, each with a central brilliant-cut diamond, and gold flowers decorated with brilliant-cut diamonds.This set from 1956 comprises a piece designed as a feather with brilliant- and single-cut diamonds. It can be worn interchangeably as a necklace, brooch or hair piece. The group also includes a pair of cultured pearl and diamond ear clips. Together, the jewels brought in EUR 107,950 ($125,408), above their EUR 100,000 ($116,172) high asking price.A Bulgari ring bears an oval-shaped Burmese ruby weighing 3.59 carats, in a pear-shaped diamond double frame. It sold for EUR 101,600 ($118,031), smashing its EUR 60,000 ($69,703) high estimate.
