A recent online auction at Christie’s made a splash as a large proportion of lots on offer, including the entire top 10, surpassed their high estimates.
The highest-performing item at the Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels online auction was a Harry Winston ring with a pear brilliant-cut, 9.73-carat, D-color, SI1-clarity diamond center stone and tapered baguette-cut side stones. It sold for HKD 2 million ($259,288), well above its HKD 850,000 ($109,323) upper price at the auction, which ran from October 23 to November 6, according to Christie’s.
In total, the sale brought in HKD 31 million ($4 million). Many pieces from well-known design houses, including Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, Mauboussin, and Cartier, also found buyers.
