Israel Diamond Exchange President Resigns

Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) president Nissim Zuaretz has resigned before the end of his term, bringing elections forward to later this year.

Zuaretz will remain in the position until the elections for a new leader, which will take place in November or December, he told Rapaport News on Sunday.

The founder and CEO of large-stone specialist DN Diamonds, he was elected as the IDE’s 11th president in May 2024 for a three-year term.

Israel’s diamond industry has been struggling more than many other trading hubs. The country’s polished-diamond exports declined 22% year on year to $625.7 million in the first half of 2026, the Ministry of Economy and Industry reported.

Earlier this month, the IDE rejoined the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) after a one-year absence.
