News:

Market steady. Round prices stable, with select categories firming amid tight supply. US wholesale quiet during extended July 4 holiday period and start of summer. Round, 1 to 1.99 ct., F-J, VS-SI diamonds showing early signs of demand recovery. De Beers significantly cuts rough prices at July sight, especially for goods under 0.75 ct. (3-grainers), to align with market; miner trims sightholder list from 70 to 45-50 at first sale under new contract. India’s Titan fiscal 1Q jewelry sales +39% YOY, with mid-30s growth percentage for studded pieces. Three candidates running for WFDB president at World Diamond Congress in Singapore (July 12-15).

Fancies:

Long fancy shapes such as Ovals, Marquises and Emeralds doing better than rounds in 2 ct. and larger. High-quality Marquises, long Radiants and long Cushions in short supply. Marquise most expensive fancy shape. Long Cushions easy to sell and trading at 20% to 25% premium over square ones. Antique cuts and styles hot. Solid US market for elongated Ovals of good shape and quality in D-I, VS-SI categories. Very well-cut fancy shapes difficult to find and commanding premiums. Fancies with bad proportions illiquid.

Round, 0.50 ct., D-I, VS-SI1 demand strengthening; rounds of 2 ct. and larger firming in select categories. Some traders resuming inventory-buying. Long fancies (ovals, pears, marquises and long cushions) popular in 2 ct.-plus, D-I, VS-SI ranges. Lower-quality commercial goods increasingly selling in parcels without individual certificates.
