A 16.58-carat sapphire and diamond ring took center stage at a recent online jewelry auction at Christie’s in New York, where it garnered $1 million.

The piece, which features a cushion-cut cabochon Kashmir sapphire with 10 tapered baguette-cut diamonds, met its expected price range and led the October 14 to 23 Jewelry Online auction, Christie’s said last week.

In total, the auction raked in $10.6 million. The sale attracted buyers from the US, Asia-Pacific, and Europe, Middle East and Africa regions (EMEA). The event reached a wider global audience through its digital platform, resulting in a 26% increase in new participants.
