June brought signs of resilience across the market. Alrosa reported record customer interest in its diamonds, with viewings more than doubling year on year and prices for 2 to 10 carat stones up 6% to 9% since January, driven largely by demand for investment-grade goods. Hong Kong jeweler TSL reported a return to profit for fiscal 2026, crediting business transformation and stronger same-store sales in mainland China. At auction, Christie’s sold two blue diamond rings for more than $8 million each in New York, part of a $49.7 million sale that also saw strong demand for colored gemstones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The month was also active on the organizational front. Informa Markets and MCH Group announced plans to launch the Basilia Jewellery and Watch Fair in Basel in 2027, while the London Diamond Bourse elected Charlotte Rose as its first woman president. The International Colored Gemstone Association named Brandee Dallow, a De Beers and Rio Tinto veteran, as its new CEO. Rapaport also stayed active, launching a free calculator to help jewelers plan matched diamond sets. It also released the second episode of its Heard on the Street video series, which tackled industry division and the growing influence of celebrities and social media on natural-diamond marketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In June, 1-carat diamond prices continued to soften overall, with some variation by category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
D-F and G-J color diamonds in IF-VVS and VS clarities declined by an average of 0.7%, potentially reflecting the seasonal slowdown typical of summer months. K-M diamonds in IF-VVS and VS clarities declined by a more modest average of 0.4%, also consistent with typical summer seasonality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SI-clarity goods, by contrast, told a more divided story. D-F SI slipped 2.1% over the month, while G-J SI held broadly steady with a marginal 0.3% decline. K-M SI moved in the opposite direction, gaining 2.5%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inventory distribution remained steady, with G-J colors across IF-VVS, VS, and SI clarities together representing 61.2% of Rapaport Trade listings in the 1-carat segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
