Petra&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/news\/petra-taps-shareholders-to-tune-of-25m\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asked<\/a>&nbsp;shareholders&nbsp;to purchase&nbsp;additional&nbsp;company&nbsp;stock to the tune of $25 million&nbsp;in order to&nbsp;keep the business going.&nbsp;Ekati owner Burgundy Diamond Mines was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/news\/ekati-owner-in-talks-for-funding-to-keep-business-afloat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">looking<\/a>&nbsp;for&nbsp;outside investment,&nbsp;while&nbsp;the owner of&nbsp;Lesotho\u2019s Kao mine&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/news\/lesothos-kao-mine-faces-closure-amid-global-diamond-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asked<\/a>&nbsp;the government to limit fees so it could stay afloat.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the month also saw the first real signs of a recovery starting in China and Hong Kong. Kering&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/news\/jewelry-bright-spot-for-kering-amid-overall-sales-slip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a>&nbsp;improvement&nbsp;in&nbsp;its jewelry brands\u2019&nbsp;Asia Pacific&nbsp;sales, while jeweler Chow Tai Fook&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/news\/chow-tai-fook-sales-rebound-in-second-quarter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">saw<\/a>&nbsp;revenues&nbsp;rise 11% in China and 13% in Hong Kong.&nbsp;Luk Fook also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/news\/luk-fook-to-expand-internationally-even-as-china-begins-recovery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;gains in those markets. Swiss watch orders from China&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/news\/us-plunge-outweighs-gains-for-swiss-watch-exports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">showed<\/a>&nbsp;a marked gain of 18%.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember937\">De Beers had&nbsp;a number of&nbsp;things going on during the month.&nbsp;The company\u2019s chief trade and industry officer, Feriel Zerouki,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/news\/feriel-zerouki-to-exit-de-beers-after-two-decades\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">left<\/a>&nbsp;after 20 years. Angola&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/news\/angola-seeks-anglos-majority-stake-in-de-beers-reports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a>&nbsp;it was seeking a majority stake in De Beers, joining other offers already put forth by&nbsp;the&nbsp;Botswana&nbsp;government, former CEOs Gareth Penny and Bruce Cleaver, Australian mining veteran Michael O\u2019Keeffe,&nbsp;and Indian billionaire Anil Agarwal. Most recently, the miner&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/news\/extra-sight-spurs-de-beers-sales-increase\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;its&nbsp;third-quarter&nbsp;sales&nbsp;had&nbsp;more than tripled to $700 million&nbsp;as&nbsp;a&nbsp;result of&nbsp;an extra sight this year,&nbsp;and that&nbsp;production&nbsp;for the period&nbsp;had&nbsp;grown&nbsp;38%&nbsp;to&nbsp;7.7 million carats.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rapaport.com\/trade\/free-trial-blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/no-cache.hubspot.com\/cta\/default\/464503\/dd7d1623-c1e2-4f43-bd9f-7ae4cd74237b.png\" alt=\"Get a FREE 7-day trial of Rapaport Trade\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here&#8217;s your diamond market analysis from Rapaport Trade for October 2025<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember943\">In September, the price for the 1-carat RAPI softened to $4,437 by month&#8217;s end, down 0.9% from the previous month, when the index had fallen 1.1%. Better clarity diamonds in the D-H IF-VVS category led the decline in the index, falling an average of 1.1%, while the mid-tier VS quality diamonds fell only an average of 0.5%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"ember944\">D-F and G-J SI categories saw a decline of an average of 2%, while in August they fell an average of 3%. Low-quality diamonds in the K-M VS-SI category saw an average decline of 1.8%, compared to August when they fell an average of 0.9%.
