Chan Sai-Cheong will leave as managing director of mainland China for Hong Kong-based jeweler Chow Tai Fook at the end of the month.

Sai-Cheong, who is also an executive director of the retailer, will retire “on account of personal reasons of a private nature,” the company said Monday. He joined Chow Tai Fook in 1985 and has been integral in the company’s growth, it noted.

Kent Wong, who is currently an executive director and managing director of Chow Tai Fook’s Hong Kong, Macau and overseas business, will assume responsibility for mainland China operations and strategy, the jeweler explained. He has been working at the company since 1977.

Chow Tai Fook has a plan in place to ensure an easy transition. Sai-Cheong’s final day will be March 31.

“Sai-Cheong has developed and led a committed team, and I thank him for leaving [the company] in a solid position as we are poised for future growth,” said Henry Cheng, chairman of Chow Tai Fook’s board of directors. “Our transformation journey will further elevate our brand, driving quality growth and operational resilience.”
