Podcast: Inside Bulgari’s Glorious History

April 7, 2024   |  Jewelry Connoisseur Team

Heritage curator director Gislain Aucremanne takes us on a tour of the legendary Roman house’s innovations and style.

The name Bulgari conjures up images of Roman landscapes, spectacularly colorful jewelry, and glamorous Hollywood stars enamored of the brand.

In this new episode of the Jewelry Connoisseur Podcast, the Italian maison’s recently appointed heritage curator director, Gislain Aucremanne, highlights the key moments in Bulgari’s story. Starting with the Greek origins of the high-jewelry house in the 19th century, our guest discusses how the distinctive Bulgari style was born and how the family business grew into the internationally established brand it is today.

Aucremanne goes through the elements that make up Bulgari’s DNA, pointing to proportion, volume and symmetry, as well as influences from local architecture and history.

Using examples from the Italian house’s rich archives, the curator offers a vivid overview of the iconic handcrafted jewelry that has adorned celebrities since the 1950s.
